Who Doesn't Love a Smoothie?

Smoothies can be dangerous if you make them solely out of fruit as they become calorie laden and not satiating, besides spiking your blood sugar.

But that doesn't mean you have to drink only kale and spinach smoothies. However, don't swear off these plants. You really can't taste them mixed in to most smoothies and they pack a powerful punch of vitamins.

By adding a handful of kale or spinach you'll be able to get in a serving of veggies at breakfast without even trying.

Protein Plus Smoothie

It's important to balance smoothies with protein, carbs, and fat so you don't send a liquid sugar bomb into your stomach.

There are many good protein powders out so pick one that you like. I enjoy Jay Robb vanilla whey protein powder.  If you have problems with milk there are options that are vegan and/or whey free. Find one that you love!

Mix 1 scoop of protein powder.

1/2 of a banana

1 cup of almond or coconut milk

1 cup of ice

Blend for a minute

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

1 cup milk of your choice

1/2 banana

1 TBL peanut butter

1 scoop chocolate protein powder

1 cup of ice

Blend until smooth

Veggie Smoothie

A Vitamix or a Bullet will work better than a blender for this recipe.

1 cup Kale (baby kale or lacinato)

1 cup Spinach

1/2 Cucumber, peeled

1/2 Apple

1 cup Coconut Water

1/2 scoop Vanilla Protein powder

1 cup of ice

Blend until smooth
